We’re the proud ‘parents’ of two amazing, rescued brittanys. They’re not big dogs, but they are very strong, run very fast, even in the house, and play rough. We decided early on to go for dog training to make sure they would obey us and be easier to live with.
We spent six weeks attending what quickly turned out to be human training.
Man’s best friend
Dogs are man’s best friend because they want to please and getting a dog to behave is simply a matter of consistently and clearly communicating what you want. The dogs will follow.
Regardless of the breed, age or personality, the trainer was able to get the response he was looking for. Every time. It was obvious that we needed to be just as consistent to be successful managing our own animals. That was a tough moment, because that wasn’t the answer we wanted. It was clearly human training.
People aren’t dogs. But we respond very well to consistent and clear leadership. Without it, we do our own thing, maybe we run in the house and play rough…
